Stonecroft

Stonecroft is one of those wineries that bats well above its size, having produced some of Hawke’s Bay most interesting and experimental wines.  Established in the formative days (1982) of the Hawke’s Bay vineyard resurgence by Alan Limmer on the river flats of the Ngaruroro River better known as the Gimblett Gravels.  This vineyard produces wines of marked intensity that are handcrafted with passion to extract the best qualities from the grapes.  Over the years Stonecroft has undertaken much experimentation and its wines have evolved with this journey.  Initially know for intense and complex Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, its hallmark wines are now its Rhone style blends, finely crafted Gewurztraminer and its Zinfandel.

The theme at Stonecroft is intensity, of purpose as much as of flavour. The intention is always to do the best possible, from the first winter pruning to the final fining - to grow and fashion wine that has the potential to be great - wines with huge personality from a small estate.

Stonecroft Wines Limited is now owned by Dermot McCollum and Andria Monin. The couple purchased Stonecroft in June 2010.
